In 2025, Masego released a series of singles — I Win, Unhinged, and Spin The Block — marking his first solo releases in two years. With these tracks, he continued to carve out his own musical path, characterized by live instrumentation, thoughtful arrangements, and a distinctive blend of jazz, R&B, and hip-hop influences.
To date, Masego has accumulated nearly two billion streams worldwide and earned multiple Platinum and Gold certifications across various countries. His breakthrough single Tadow with FKJ achieved Platinum certification in the United States, Diamond certification in Brazil, and Gold certification in Mexico. His project Studying Abroad: Extended Stay also earned him his first GRAMMY® nomination.
His most recent album, Masego, was met with widespread critical acclaim. Vogue described it as “his most introspective work to date,” while Pitchfork included it in its list of “33 Great Records You May Have Missed,” praising his ability to further refine and expand his sound. HYPEBEAST called the album “well worth the wait,” highlighting his continued dedication to craftsmanship and musicianship.
About Masego
Micah Davis, better known as Masego, is a Jamaican-American artist whose music reflects both the rich history and ongoing evolution of Black music. Blending innovative jazz with deeply rooted musical traditions, he has created a unique and unmistakable sound. His artistic journey began in Virginia, home to influential musical innovators such as Pharrell Williams and Timbaland. Yet Masego has forged his own path as a storyteller who builds complete compositions from scratch using a loop pedal, creating rhythms that feel both contemporary and timeless.
With a stage presence that commands audiences around the world — having performed in more than forty countries before tens of thousands of fans — Masego’s live shows are renowned for their infectious energy that transcends borders. His music has also been featured in film and synchronized across platforms including Netflix, Hulu, and HBO, extending his artistic reach far beyond traditional media.
His creative bases in several Afrocentric countries reflect his commitment to both community and artistic development. Working from locations including Ghana and Brazil, he pursues projects spanning music, culture, and technological innovation. His appreciation for Black women — whom he views as a constant source of inspiration, culture, and strength — remains a central theme throughout his work and is reflected in both his music and storytelling.
With new music on the horizon, Masego continues to expand his creative universe. His next project is set for release in the summer of 2026, further extending both his global impact and artistic boundaries.
