Madness
AFAS Live is no unfamiliar place for the British group. In 2010, 2012 and 2022, the band already brought the Amsterdam venue to its feet. In 2019, they added their exclusive anniversary show Madness XL, celebrating the band’s fortieth anniversary. The British band invites the Netherlands to pull the baggy trousers out of the closet, take one step beyond, and catch the night boat to Amsterdam for a spectacular show full of old and new classics spanning over 45 years of Madness legacy. In 2025, Madness is nutty as ever. It promises to be an unprecedentedly grand Madness party in the House of Fun!
16 Top 10 Hits
For years, Madness has been one of the most successful bands in the world. The London group is known for its unique blend of reggae, pop, punk, and of course ska. The success of their latest album Theatre of the Absurd Presents C’est la Vie proves that even after nearly five decades, the British band has lost none of its relevance. Suggs and his bandmates remain ambitious without forgetting their rich past. In doing so, they continue to reach both old and new fans worldwide with their socially critical songs full of humour. With no fewer than 16 hits in the UK Top 10, Madness is one of the most successful bands ever, with a catalogue full of indestructible classics. Formed in Camden Town in 1979, the band broke through that same year with their debut album One Step Beyond…, featuring unforgettable hits like Night Boat to Cairo, My Girl, and One Step Beyond.
Baggy Trousers
From that moment on, the career of the group around frontman Suggs consists solely of highlights. In the years that follow, Madness scores one global hit after another and spends an impressive 214 weeks in the charts. Songs like Our House, Baggy Trousers and Embarrassment grow into classics and can still be heard everywhere today. Later albums such as their comeback record The Liberty Of Norton Folgate (2009), Oui Oui Si Si Ja Ja Da Da (2012), and their most recent album Theatre of the Absurd Presents C'est la Vie (2023) are also well received. In the Netherlands, Germany, and Ireland, the album entered the charts — and for the first time ever, a Madness album even reached the number 1 position in the UK charts!
