Ten years ago, Tim Hofman and Marije de Roode set out with a confetti cannon to tackle injustice and help angry people become a little less angry. What started as an online programme has grown into a journalistic platform with more than one million followers and over 550 videos.

Over the past decade, BOOS has produced reports on a wide range of topics. From consumer issues involving TicketTribune, Amac and Expedia to problems in the housing market involving tenant associations and rogue landlords. The programme has highlighted social issues such as street harassment, child vloggers and influencer marketing, while holding politicians, administrators, companies and other figures in positions of power accountable for their actions. As a result of its broadcasts, dozens of parliamentary questions have been raised, widespread attention has been drawn to misconduct, and numerous landlords, scammers and other misleading sellers have been called to account.

In those ten years, BOOS has become one of the most talked-about journalistic platforms in the Netherlands. The episode This is the Voice sparked a nationwide discussion about abuse of power and inappropriate behaviour. In addition, BOOS produced documentaries on topics including euthanasia and the children’s pardon policy, won numerous awards such as the Televizier-Ring and De Tegel, and saw Tim Hofman named Journalist of the Year.

During the anniversary event at AFAS Live, the team will look back on ten years of BOOS and a decade of social change. The evening will feature memorable clips, behind-the-scenes stories from the team, conversations with the creators, special guests, music and surprises from the BOOS archive.
