"In a show bursting with ideas, Lorde shows just how big her ambition is."

1 December 2025

Last week, Lorde performed two sold-out shows at AFAS Live as part of her worldwide Ultrasound Tour 2025. A perfect moment to look back on this special evening.

It’s also exactly what she aimed for, something she mentioned when announcing the tour and repeats again tonight. Becoming one with the audience, making music together, searching for something bigger, whether the room holds 5,000 people or 20,000 like a week earlier in London. When, at the end of the show during David, she walks through the crowd in a glowing jacket to a small stage next to the sound and lighting desks and kicks off crowd favorite Ribs, the entire AFAS, even the seated sections, starts jumping in euphoria. Mission accomplished. - OOR

Lorde’s vocals are excellent and her words are crystal clear, letting us hear that she’s still singing about the same themes (doubt, alienation, discomfort, her body) but in a more poetic, refined way, with greater impact. - Volkskrant

Wow, this show is absolutely packed with ideas. My first thought: we’ve really been spoiled as pop fans with all these sharply crafted shows in recent years. - 3voor12

Revealing herself became her trademark, and she did the same on Monday at AFAS Live. At the first of two sold-out Dutch shows, Lorde offered a glimpse into her inner world through her lyrics, but also quite literally laid herself bare. - Trouw

Still, it feels as if Lorde manages to carve out a space of her own within the overwhelming chaos of her pop-star life, even with a few thousand ecstatic fans surrounding her. - NRC

She’s not playing the Ziggo Dome in the Netherlands, but simply returning to AFAS Live, twice in a row, even. And she keeps things wonderfully cozy there, wearing wide jeans with ripped knees that she drops to her ankles during ‘Current Affairs,’ and a loose top she casually replaces halfway through the show with just a piece of grey tape. ‘I really like meeting up in this room,’ she says midway through. ‘It’s a good room. So intimate. I can see every face, it’s beautiful'. - Festileaks
