AFAS Live now runs entirely on green electricity from Om | Nieuwe Energie
Amsterdam, 11 November 2025 – Big artists, impressive shows, and a sustainable future: AFAS Live brings it all together. Since 1 October 2025, the venue has been running entirely on 100% green electricity from om | nieuwe energie, generated by local energy cooperatives in the Netherlands. With this, AFAS Live demonstrates that live entertainment and sustainability can go hand in hand.
Rick Gemser, Commercial Director of AFAS Live: “As one of the largest venues in the Netherlands, welcoming over 800,000 visitors annually, sustainability is an important focus for us. By 2030 at the latest, we aim to be climate neutral and work in a circular way. We are aware that we can truly make a difference and inspire others. With the switch to om | nieuwe energie, every show — from soundcheck to the final song — runs on locally generated green electricity.”
André Dippell, Director of om | nieuwe energie: “AFAS Live proves that fun and sustainability go hand in hand. By choosing cooperative Dutch electricity, we not only enhance the experience in the venue but also support the local energy movement beyond its walls. We manage the entire chain, from generation to delivery and accountability, so that partners like AFAS Live can focus on what they do best: creating unforgettable moments.”
Always powered, even for your phone
To further enhance visitor convenience, AFAS Live now offers sustainable power banks. That way, no one has to worry about a dead phone at the height of a concert. The power banks can be taken home and easily returned at one of the many drop-off points in the Netherlands. This ensures you never have to attend or leave AFAS Live with an empty battery again.
With green energy on stage and sustainable power in hand, AFAS Live takes another step toward a future where every performance not only sounds great but also feels good.
