Little Simz
Lotus is set for release on June 6 via AWAL Recordings and features the two recently unveiled singles, “Free” and “Flood.” “Free,” an exploration of the dualities of love and fear, was initially written as a poem. “Love will never judge you because of your pain,” Simz raps over lush instrumentation and cinematic production led by Miles Clinton James.
The ominous lead single, “Flood,” brought together two distinctive voices—Obongjayar and Moonchild Sanelly—and was accompanied by a visionary video directed by acclaimed filmmaker Salomon Ligthelm. Both tracks showcase the range and depth of Lotus, capturing shifting moods that take the listener on an expansive journey.
For Simz, the album’s title, Lotus, symbolizes renewal and growth, reflecting her evolving artistry and the thematic journey through the complex phases of life.
About Little Simz
Little Simz is a boundary-pushing musician and cultural curator, widely recognized as one of the UK’s most compelling and visionary artists. A multi-award winner—including Brit Awards, MOBOs, and an Ivor Novello—Simz has released mixtapes, EPs, and five critically acclaimed albums that chronicle her story, her growth, and the journey of her generation.
Her 2021 Mercury Prize-winning album Sometimes I Might Be Introvert launched her into the UK’s Official Album Chart Top 5, followed by the surprise release of NO THANK YOU in 2022—an album that was both deeply honest and sonically bold.
In 2023, she further expanded her creative reach as an acclaimed actress, returning to the final season of Netflix’s Top Boy. Her performance on Glastonbury’s iconic Pyramid Stage in 2024 cemented her reputation as a captivating live act and one of Britain’s most celebrated artists.
With over 1 billion global streams, her musical catalogue and live performances continue to resonate worldwide. Recently, the Southbank Centre announced Little Simz as the curator of the 30th edition of its legendary contemporary music festival, Meltdown. Joining a lineage of globally renowned curators, Simz has crafted a boundary-breaking lineup for the 11-day festival, taking place from June 12 to 22.
