Kool & The Gang
The band behind “Get Down on It” and “Celebration” brings its funk and disco classics to Amsterdam.
Kool & the Gang officially got its start in 1969. Thanks to iconic songs such as “Celebration,” “Cherish,” “Jungle Boogie,” “Summer Madness,” and “Open Sesame,” the band has earned two Grammy Awards, seven American Music Awards, 25 top 10 hits on the R&B charts, nine top 10 hits on the pop charts, and 31 gold and platinum albums.
Kool & the Gang has performed continuously for longer than any other R&B group in history. Its powerful funk and jazzy arrangements have also made it the most sampled R&B band of all time. Of the original lineup, only bassist Robert Bell is still alive. During live performances, Bell is supported by various musicians to keep the music of Kool & The Gang playing around the world.
