An Evening with Gabor Maté - The Myth of Normal
Dr. Gabor Maté brings The Myth of Normal to six European cities in March 2027. An Evening with Gabor Maté explores trauma, connection and the possibilities of healing.
Bestselling author, physician and internationally renowned speaker Dr. Gabor Maté will visit six european cities in March 2027 with An Evening with Gabor Maté - The Myth of Normal, a series of live lectures and audience Q&As exploring the connections between trauma, illness and the pressures of modern life.
Drawing on decades of clinical experience and the insights of his internationally bestselling book The Myth of Normal: Trauma, Illness and Healing in a Toxic Culture, Dr. Maté will examine how early experiences and social environments shape our mental and physical wellbeing.
Combining scientific research, personal stories and compassionate insight, each evening will invite audiences to reconsider conventional understandings of addiction, stress and illness, and explore the role of human connection in healing. The events welcome healthcare professionals, mental health advocates and anyone interested in understanding themselves and others more deeply.
Dr. Maté is a retired physician whose career spans family practice, palliative care and more than a decade supporting patients with addiction and mental illness in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. An award-winning author and recipient of the Order of Canada, he is recognised internationally for his work on trauma, childhood development and the relationship between stress and illness.
