Nearly 5,000 members of the Ajax supporters’ club came to AFAS Live on 18 December for the event that brought warmth and cheer to the month of December: Lucky’s Winter Festival! The Black Box and Talent Stage were transformed into a paradise for children with all sorts of activities, along with plenty of entertainment for adults, of course. Visitors could take a photo with Lucky or Santa Claus, try indoor sledding or jump in a bouncy castle: all this and more!
The concept for the event came from the question of how supporters could get the real Ajax feeling during the winter break. The winter period is often dark and bleak as well. Time for a day filled with activities and fun that will make every Ajax fan’s heart beat faster. Members of the supporters’ club were invited for a free winter festival close to their home base.
Two sessions welcoming 2,500 people each were held on 18 December, aimed primarily at the youngest Ajax fans. The Talent Stage was set up with activities for the very youngest kids aged 0 to 5, including face painting, a DJ, football, bouncy castles, a windmill and a ball pit. In the Black Box, the eight-metre-tall Christmas tree was a big eye-catcher, with lots of activities all around. Visitors could play a game of FIFA with an eSports athlete from Ajax or have fun jumping on trampolines. There was also a VR photo booth where fans could immortalise themselves with their Ajax heroes and have their photo taken with prizes won by Ajax, such as the Champions League and World Cup trophies. And how about the silent documentary and colouring corner?
The event itself was named after the honoured guest: Lucky, the cheerful lynx who has been Ajax’s mascot since 2000.
